Because the energy needs for each person differ, the size of the system and pricing varies. Contact an ICR partner nearest you for pricing information.

Why should I choose Iowa Choice Renewables?

Established in the 1930's, Iowa’s electric cooperatives have a proven history of serving their members and supporting safe, efficient use of electricity. Iowa Choice Renewables wants to be your trusted energy partner by providing you with the best renewable energy products and information from our participating cooperatives.

We have done extensive research on renewable energy products, especially in solar arrays. The arrays that we offer are designed for high output energy levels with fewer panels. They operate at lower voltages, offer web-based monitoring of output, and some even have a 25-year warranty--which is unlike most solar products on the market.

How will Iowa Choice Renewables help me select a solar system?

In addition to identifying ways to make your home more energy efficient, we have the expertise to answer your questions and help you decide if solar is right for you. To provide you with a utility-grade solar system that is safe, affordable, and interconnected to the power grid, we will:

  1. Offer customized energy efficiency consultations and resource materials, including information on tax incentives and rebates.
  2. Determine if and where a system can be installed on your property. (Roof-top installations are not available)
  3. Size the solar system for your energy usage needs.
  4. Provide you with a bid, purchase, and interconnection agreement** for a product with attractive financing options.
  5. Guarantee the solar system is installed by one of our reputable contractors.
  6. Provide ongoing support to help you maintain and service your solar system.

**Interconnection agreement only provided to those who are members of a participating ICR cooperative. A non-member must obtain their own interconnection agreement from their electric provider.

What am I responsible for?

You are responsible for the initial upfront cost of the system and installation, which includes the connection costs and equipment necessary for a safe interconnection to the grid. If you are a member of a participating cooperative, we we will provide you with the interconnection agreement. We encourage those interested in installing solar to check for possible required permits and contact their tax advisor for any tax incentives that may be available.

Will I get net metering or payment for any electricity my solar system delivers to the grid?

If you are a member of a participating cooperative, we will provide you with this information before you submit an interconnection agreement. If you are not a member of one of the cooperatives, contact your electricity provider.

Do you install roof-mount solar systems?

We believe that ground-mounted arrays are the most safe and reliable option. For these reasons, we do not currently offer the installations of roof-mounted solar arrays.

What do I do if my system needs maintenance?
